“The positive effects of breastfeeding on the normal development of occlusion may be explained by the effect of sucking on the skeletal and muscular development of the child’s face. Sucking mechanics differs between children who are breastfed and those who are bottle fed. Breastfeeding promotes the correct development of the jaws, strengthening the muscles involved in the process of sucking to obtain breast milk.”
